Johnson City: Betty Barvinchak, 94, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 22, 2013, at Good Shepherd Fairview Home. She was predeceased by her husband, George; son-in-law, Paul Ihnot; daughter-in-law, Linda Barvinchak; her sisters, Mary Ruffo, Ann Rudy, Rose Woods, Kate Bender; and her brothers, John Bokol, Joe Bokol and Mike Bokol. She is survived by her daughter, Bette Ann Ihnot of Vestal; 2 sons, George Barvinchak (Ray Roberge) of Chappaqua, NY and Jim Barvinchak of Johnson City; 5 grandchildren, Kathryn Egan, Daniel (Tracy) Ihnot, James Barvinchak, David Barvinchak and Susan Barvinchak; 3 great-grandchildren, Paul and Elisabeth Egan, and Finley Ihnot. Betty is also survived by a brother-in-law, Paul (Stella) Barvinchak; 2 sisters-in-law, Blanche Barvinchak and Margaret Watson; many nieces and nephews. She was a lifelong member of St. Ann's Church, now the Church of the Holy Trinity, and its Altar Rosary Society. Betty was a quiet women with a keen sense of humor whose hands were seldom idle. She dedicated her life to her faith and her family. The family would like to thank the staff at Good Shepherd for taking such good care of Betty. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 12:30 p.m. at the Bednarsky Funeral Home, Inc., 96 Glenwood Ave., Binghamton, and at 1:00 p.m. at the Church of the Holy Trinity, 346 Prospect St., Binghamton, where a Funeral Mass will be offered. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 10:30 a.m. until the time the service begins at 12:30 p.m. Burial will be in Slovak Catholic Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to either Holy Trinity Church or Good Shepherd Fairview Home.
