Stiles, Mary Kathleen

Mary Kathleen Stiles passed into the light on May 11, 2013 after a short bout with leukemia. She insisted that it not be described as "courageous". Kathy was predeceased by her parents, Mary and Walter Sullivan; her brother, James; her grandson, Quinn; and her sister-in-law, Sally Sullivan. She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Brian Stiles; her children, Gavin (Shauna) Stiles, Erin (Robert) Mulesky, Gregory Stiles, Matthew (Heather) Stiles; the loves of her life, her 8 grandchildren, Jake, Fae, Cade, Kellen, Jack, Emma, Ben and Penelope; her two brothers, Walter and John Sullivan; sister-in-law, Judith Sullivan; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Sally and James Brown and Wayne and Patricia Stiles; as well as an extended family of cherished nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. Kathy was born July 24, 1945 in Binghamton, NY and was a graduate of St. Paul's High School. She spent the majority of her years up on Crocker Hill after marrying Brian Stiles in February of 1969. She was the quintessential matriarch. She raised her four children with infinite love and patience and rocked for miles in her rocking chair with her many beautiful grandchildren. She worked for over 35 years as medical assistant to an obstetrician, which she enjoyed immensely. Her hobbies mainly included finding excuses to gather her family for celebration, and you would never find her house without some sort of seasonal or holiday decoration adorning the walls. She also enjoyed spending summers at Sandy Pond with a cold Coors Light and a listening ear; she had a unique gift for making strangers feel like friends and people often found themselves sharing their life stories with her. This was likely a result of her Irish heritage, of which she was very proud and celebrated often. The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. O'Brien and the staff of 5 Main at Guthrie Hospital, the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center, and most of all her nieces Lisa and Mauri, who were beacons of light throughout this journey.

"May the road rise to meet you,

May the wind be always at your back,

May the sun shine warm upon your face,

The rains fall soft upon your fields and,

Until we meet again,

May Gold hold you in the palm of His hand."

Kathy was loved by all and will be dearly missed.
