Suzanne Emminger Gaddy

1942 - 2013 Obituary Condolences
Gaddy, Suzanne Emminger

Suzanne Emminger Gaddy (best known as Peanut) of Bristow, Virginia, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family and friends on September 20, 2013, at the age of 70. She was born to the late William and Eleanor Hemenway, November 6, 1942 in Binghamton, New York. Suzanne graduated from Johnson City High School in 1960. Suzanne is predeceased by the love of her life and best friend Charles W. Emminger. They shared their home in the Binghamton area as well as Manassas, Virginia. After being married for 24 years, Charles passed away April 1, 1990. They walked hand in hand with love for their children and their faith. Suzanne was fortunate enough to find love and friendship twice in her life as she is survived by her loving husband Ernest C. Gaddy, Jr. of 12 years. They were married in Triangle, Virginia on October 6, 2001. Suzanne is lovingly remembered by her children Bryon Emminger of Myrtle Beach, SC; Theresa Emminger Endres and husband Scott of Fredericksburg, VA; Charles Emminger and wife Maure, and grandchildren Elodie and Harper of Cincinnati, OH; Lieutenant Colonel Robert Emminger and wife Selina, and grandchildren Robert and Brittany of Spotsylvania, VA; two step-children, Stephanie Henderson and Husband Christopher; and John Gaddy and wife Theresa. Together, Suzanne and Ernest have 14 grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, Robert and wife Beverly Hemenway; a sister, Sally and husband William Alig; and a second brother Richard Hemenway who is predeceased by his wife Joan. She was employed by Blue Cross / Blue Shield of New York and was the first state Ombudsman. She took pride in her position and was the consummate professional with strong work ethics, morals, and focus on customer service. She was last employed with Dr. Tom Johnson, D.D.S. of Manassas, VA. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary, Knights of Columbus at All Saints Catholic Church. Suzanne loved spending time with her family and friends, to include her extended Dunbarton family. She enjoyed winters in sunny Naples, FL, spending time on the beach reading, traveling, taking cruises, music - especially concerts - and long walks. She enjoyed knitting Afghans and if you were lucky enough, Suzanne treated special family and friends to a homemade afghan; every stitch was made with her love. Suzanne had a personality that always made everyone feel welcome and part of her very own family. She had a smile that lit up every room she entered. She always cared for others before herself. She was the very best mother you could ask for who always made sure her children had nothing but the best of everything they needed to succeed in life. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 27, 2013 at the Baker-Post Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 10001 Nokesville Road, Manassas, VA; 703-368-3116. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday, September 30, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at All Saints Catholic Church, 9300 Stonewall Road, Manassas, VA with Rev. David Martin as the Celebrant. Interment will take place at Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City, NY on Monday, October 7, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. Condolences for the family may be offered online at www.bakerpostfh.com.
