Billings, Harold Travis

Harold Travis Billings, 95, of Vestal, passed away peacefully and went to be with his Lord on Saturday, November 9, 2013 at Lourdes Hospital. He is predeceased by his beloved wife, Thelma J. Billings and nephew, Maurice A. (Rob) Robbins, III. He is survived by his sister, Anne Marcy of Kingsley, PA and her three children; sister, Shirley (Irv) Baker of New Albany, IN and their four children; sister-in-law, Wilma E. (Maurice A.) Robbins, Jr. of Winter Haven, FL; niece, Judi (Bill) Hecht, Raleigh, NC; nephew, David (Tricia) Robbins, Binghamton, NY; nephew, Michael (Anne) Robbins, Ravena, NY; niece, Carol (Dick) Robbins-Harding, Vestal, NY; many great-nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews, as well as numerous wonderful neighbors and friends. Harold was a member of the Vestal United Methodist Church since 1947 and a Vestal resident since 1946. He was a WWII Veteran Staff Sergeant in the 17th Calvary European Theater, member of the Vestal Historical Society where he was President from 1987-1990, member of the Vestal Masonic Lodge for 58 years and was a member of the Vestal Library and the Library Board of Trustees. Harold was a painter for Security Mutual Insurance until his retirement in 1981. The family would like to thank the staff at Lourdes Hospital for their care of Harold during his last days. A Memorial service for Harold will be held on Friday at 11 AM at the Vestal United Methodist Church, 328 Main Street, Vestal, NY 13850. Pastor Mike Willis will officiate. Burial will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park, Vestal. The family will receive friends at Church from 10 AM until service time at 11 AM. Expressions of sympathy in Harold's memory may be made to the Vestal Public Library, 320 Vestal Parkway East, Vestal, NY 13850 or to the Vestal United Methodist Church.
