Thomas Scalise Obituary
Binghamton: Thomas D. Scalise, 56, of Binghamton, died unexpectedly Wednesday, February 5, 2014. He is survived by his wife, Lori Schaeffer Scalise; his daughters, Hannah and Olivia Scalise; his parents, Catherine & Gary Wigal, Conklin, Thomas & Josie Scalise, FL; a devoted sister, Marcia Ehret, FL; brother, James T. & Deborah Scalise; brothers-in-law, Robert & Kathy Schaeffer, Mike & Ann Marie Schaeffer, Jeff & Rhona Schaeffer, Donald Schaeffer, Doug & Lisa Schaeffer, Phillip & Amanda Schaeffer; mother and father-in-law, Phyllis & Richard Martin, Ft. Myers, FL; nieces and nephews, Max Ehret, Marcella and Nicholas Scalise, Michael, Thomas and Mariah Schaeffer, Danielle and Christopher Schaeffer, Abby Schaeffer. Tom was a member of the Church of Saints John and Andrew, Binghamton. He was a graduate of Binghamton Central High School, Class of 1975. He was a member of the NYS Teamsters Union and was employed by the City of Binghamton Parks and Recreation Dept. for 26 years, usually seen driving the "Gang Mower." A Funeral Mass will be offered at the Church of Saints John and Andrew, Vestal Ave., Binghamton, Monday at 9:30AM. Burial will be in Slovak Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main St., Binghamton, Sunday from 2-5PM. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in memory of Tom may be made to NBT Bank, 3121 Vestal Parkway E., Vestal, NY 13850 to an Educational Trust for his daughters. Please make checks payable to Hannah and Olivia Scalise.

My deepest condolences to Scalise family. I worked with the Captain many years ago. He was a great guy and good friend. He brought the best out of everyone with his amazing personality & kind heart. I ran into Tom last year for the first time in 10 or 15 years and he about mugged me with hugs. He truly was an amazing person.

I still seems unreal that Tommy is gone. Lori you did an awesome job paying tribute to Tommy today and I am sure he is smiling down and singing to you and the girls.
The years go so fast. I remember the years on Sumner Ave when Tom and Marcia and Jimmy lived above Bill and Mary,,,, Childhood memories I will never forget.
I said to my brother today,,,the size of a mans funeral is an endorsement of how he lived. His was huge. IT confirmed how he lived.

What a great man, he will be missed always stopped me to say Hi and ask how the family was. What a shocker. Going to miss him waving to me everyday going to and from work while he was mowing the lawn for the city. My son enjoyed the pink car he gave me when Hanna got to big for it, it even had a little compartment to hold a couple of beers when I took my son for a walk. South side will miss him

I'm sorry to hear of Tommy's passing, my thoughts and prayers are with all of you. Tommy was my child hood friend from Sumner Ave. We lost track of each other over the years, but I will always remember the fun we had around the old neighborhood, not to mention the mischief we caused. I would run in to him over the years, usually at one of the local taverns, and there was always a warm hardy hug, a lot of reminiscing, and a whole lot of laughs !
