Howard Layer Obituary
A limb has fallen from the family tree that says grieve not for me. Remember the best times, the laughter, the song, the good life I lived while I was strong….Howard G. Layer, 69, a life-long resident of Nichols, passed away at the home he was born in on Thursday, October 1, 2015. Howard was born on August 18, 1946 a son of the late George H. and Lorena Elsie (Ockerman) Layer. He was a graduate of Tioga Central High School class of 1964. Howard was a former member of the Nichols Fire Department and a former social member of the Nichols American Legion. He enjoyed Nascar racing, fishing and old tractors.
Howard will be greatly missed by his sisters Shirley Fox and Lu Harris; his special friend Linda Fairlie; nieces and nephews: Robyn Bruder, Wendy and Scott Rifenberg, Tammy and Kevin Warner, Roxanne Fox; great nieces and nephews: Jesseca and Peter Ferreri, Kimberly Fox and Cody Fox and a great great nephew CJ Ferrei. Several cousins and many friends also survive. Howard was predeceased by his parents, a infant brother Richard John Layer; sister and brother-in-law: Beverly and Otto Scott; sister Arlene Layer, brother-in-law: Ronald Harris.
At Howard's request there will be no services. PO Box 334, Nichols, NY 13812 in loving memory of Howard G. Layer. Caring assistance is being provided by the Cooley Family of the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols.
