On October 10th, 2015 Mrs. Ethel Bourne (96) passed peacefully away at home following a five year struggle with Alzheimer's disease. Ethel never lost her beautiful smile, which

was recognized and enjoyed by everyone. She was an avid reader, played piano beautifully, enjoyed music and loved to needlepoint. Ethel was a dedicated, loving wife to David Alexander Bourne for 65 years. They built a life together that was the rock foundation for their family. She was a loving Mother and Ethel's generosity and dedication toward her children gave them essential skills that propelled them both to successful careers. Ethel was a copy editor at the Patent Trader in Mount Kisco, NY and at the Reader"s Digest, Chappaqua, NY. She ended her career at IBM where she had risen to the rank of Executive Secretary at the prestigious IBM Thomas J. Watson Research Center. Ethel spent much of her life homemaking and following her Husband's career moves to Binghamton, Kingston and Chappaqua New York. Ethel and late Husband retired to Harrison, Maine and Osprey, Florida. After her Husband passed, Ethel moved to Chincoteague VA to be cared for by her Son, David Bourne and Daughter in-law Theresa Bulger. She continued to enjoy long walks, holding her loved ones hands, getting her hair done and the sparkle of light on water. She was a member of the United Methodist Church on Chincoteague, and the Senior Center. Till her last day she maintained a strong will and in her final hours hummed a melodious tune. Ethel was survived by seven Grandchildren, ten Great-Grandchildren, her Daughter Cheryl and her Son-inlaw Larry Kerr of Vestal NY and her beloved Son, David Bourne and his Wife Theresa of Chincoteague, Virginia. Memorial service will be held on Friday, November 27, 2015, 11:00 am at the Christ United Methodist Church, Chincoteague Island, VA, with Rev. Travis DeLoach, officiating.
