Carolyn Jean Colmenero, a 70 year old Yreka resident, passed away on December 26, 2012 at Madrone Hospice after fighting Alzheimer's for several years. She was surrounded by her loving family. Carolyn was born February 12, 1942 in Atlantic, Iowa and moved to Sonoma County as a young girl. Carolyn was the second oldest daughter in a family of six girls and one boy. Carolyn loved her family and spending time together was her favorite thing to do. Before getting diagnosed with Alzheimers, Carolyn enjoyed interior decorating, entertaining family and friends, bowling, dancing and occasionally playing guitar. She enjoyed working as a bank teller for several years at Exchange Bank in Rohnert Park, CA. She moved on to work at Max Machinery in Healdsburg, CA until the onset of her illness. Carolyn was the matriarch of the family who is missed dearly every day. She was a wonderful Wife and Mother who was patient, loving, understanding, vibrant and beautiful on the inside and out with a great sense of humor. We know she's in Heaven making sure everything is perfect for when we join her. We love you and miss you. You are forever in our hearts! She was proceeded in death by her Mother, Betty Penry and Sister, Sharon Poole. She is survived by her Husband of 47 years, Julian Colmenero of Yreka, CA, Daughter, Leticia Bathurst of Yreka, CA, Son, Quinn Colmenero and his Wife, Shelli of Rohnert Park, CA. Grandchildren, Jason Bathurst of Vallejo, CA, Andrew Bathurst of Yreka, CA, Briana Colmenero of Santa Rosa, CA, Matiana Colmenero of Rohnert Park, CA, Amanda Yerion of Sacramento, CA, Cody and Clayton Yerion of Rohnert Park, CA. In-laws Manual and Andrea Colmenero of Horizon, TX; Frank and Emily Colmenero of Houston, TX; Joe and Tere Todd of Naples, FL and Molly Dodd of Yreka, CA; Life-long friend Sallie Mule' and Husband, Vince of Seal Beach, CA. Brother, Terry Edwards and Wife Diana of Geyserville, CA., Sisters, Janet McDonald and Husband, Fred of Eufala, OK, Shirley Prat and Husband, Larry of Cloverdale, CA, Kathy Arreguin and Husband, Raul of Cloverdale, CA, Eva Streeter and Husband Dan of Rohnert Park, CA and numerous nieces and nephews. Girdner Funeral Chapel handled her arrangements. A graveside memorial for family and friends will be held at a later date followed by a celebration of her life.
