Joan Gloria Barnacle, age 82, died at home on September 10, 2012, following a short illness. A UCSF graduate and Professor Emeritus at Indian Valley College, she taught Vocational Nursing and Medical Assisting. Following her retirement, Joan tutored individuals for whom English is a second language. She is missed by friends and surviving family including her husband, Jerry, her children Janet, Jim and Jeff. Joan loved her five grandchildren, Cristie Dolcini, Brain and Gina Barnacle, and Josh and Rachel Barnacle. Donations honoring Joan can be made to North County Hospice or Canine Companions for Independence. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. October 4, 2012, at the Blue Heron Room, 900 Sanford Road, Santa Rosa. Lunch will be shared following the service.

Dear Janet and family, I was so sorry to read about your Mom's passing. I have many fond memories of your family many, many years ago. She always treated me like a daughter putting up with our smelly horsie clothes (Nifty, Lemonade and Chico). My thoughts and prayers are with you. Love Susan Swanson Morgan
