Born August 11, 1929 in Berkeley, CA to Mark Said and Juanita Schiller. Died February 22, 2014, age 84. Moved to Santa Rosa in 1930. Attended Fremont Elementary, Santa Rosa Jr. High, and Santa Rosa High School, graduating in June 1947. She was a cheerleader, vice-president and secretary of the student body, and winner of the DAR Good Citizen Award. She entered University of California at Berkeley in September, 1947, lived in Stern Hall for two years, and then became a member of the Gamma Phi Beta sorority where she developed life-long friends. She graduated in June 1951 with a B.A. in history. A month before graduating from Cal, she met Dick Lewis on a blind date. They married on June 21, 1953 and spent over 60 loving years together. She earned an elementary teaching credential in January 1952, and taught in Richmond, CA for several years. In 1955, they moved to San Mateo County, living in San Bruno, Belmont and San Mateo. , they led several student tours to Europe and the Near East. This developed an interest in international travel, and they traveled extensively in North America, Europe, Asia, Australia, and Egypt. Upon retirement in 1994, they returned to Santa Rosa and continued international travel. Anne was a volunteer at Luther Burbank Home and Garden. She and Dick were members of the Cal Alumni Group at Oakmont, volunteered for the Bear Backers and enjoyed many years as season ticket holders for Cal football. She is survived by her husband, Dick and three children, Bob, Janet and Bill, and four grandchildren, Jesse, Maddy, Annalise and Emily. No formal services will be held.
