Belle GANAPOLER

Passed peacefully in her sleep, from natural causes, on November 12, 2012. Her life was devoted to her family, education, politics, theater and the arts. After retiring from the Marin County Library in 1981 she and her husband Lou, moved to Petaluma, raised their own food and attended art and education classes. At the Five Corners Theater they established a community theater group in which they produced, acted in and directed several productions. Her monthly schedule of activities challenged her children to keep up with movies, theater, symphony, women's brown bag lunch, Yiddish club, lifelong learning classes and Sunday book club. Hosting the Sunday book club was one of her favorite activities encompassing a great and loving circle of friends who would vigorously discuss current events and literature. Known for carrying a torch of justice, tolerance and equality, she was outspoken at every opportunity to educate, inform and influence all of the lives that she touched. Survived by three loving children; Rachel, David and Martin and two loving grandchildren; Conor and Shawn, she will live on in our hearts forever
