Brad von Raesfeld, 47, passed away peacefully on November 19, 2012, surrounded by family and friends, and the palpable love of all those who admired him. Born and raised in Petaluma, CA, Brad lived and worked throughout the Bay Area, eventually returning to his hometown to start a family of his own. He enjoyed a successful and respected career in Information Technology, employed by NuCompass Mobility, Guide Dogs for the Blind, Sola Optical, Lucasfilm Ltd., Synon, Inc., and others. Brad met his future wife, Tina, at Synon, Inc., where she was struck by his notable rapport with the users he supported. He was exceedingly patient, kind, respectful, attentive, and likeable; Brad raised the bar. He connected with people and lifted their days. A consummate family man, Brad was intensely proud of his two beautiful boys (mini-Brads in every way) and forever devoted to his wife, mother, and many siblings. We all were struck by his fierce determination to fight for his family throughout his battle with esophageal cancer. We will miss him tremendously. Brad is survived by his wife Tina, his sons Dax and Gavin (both students at Grant Elementary School), his mother Sandra von Raesfeld of Petaluma, his father Ernest von Raesfeld of Eugene, OR, his brothers Jeff (Lee Anne), Steve (Kathleen), and Gary von Raesfeld of Petaluma, his brothers Leo and Eugene von Raesfeld of Santa Rosa, his sister Carolann (Joe) Ianora of Walnut Creek, and many nephews and nieces. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the "Dax & Gavin von Raesfeld College Fund" at any Wells Fargo branch (Account # 6978515556). Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 30 at St. Vincent De Paul Church, 35 Liberty, Petaluma. Parent-Sorensen Crematory. 763-4131.
