Charles Harrison MD,EID

EID, Charles Harrison, MD, entered eternal rest November 28, 2012 following a long struggle with multiple myeloma. Born in Wisconsin in 1925, he was the second of four boys. After graduating from Sparta High School, he served in the US Army during World War II from 1944 to 1946 achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant. He attended the University of Wisconsin in Madison receiving a Bachelor of Science, Master of Medical Sciences, and Doctor of Medicine degree in 1954. After finishing a residency in Radiology at Ann Arbor, MI he moved to San Mateo, CA joining the Mills-Peninsula Radiology Group as a diagnostic radiologist for 25 years. He retired in 1985, took art lessons and developed abstract images using chromatography and glue, but also used serigraphy and oils to demonstrate realism in many art shows in San Mateo County and San Francisco. In addition to his art work, he enjoyed gardening, music, stamp collecting, toy trains and traveling. He was an active member of Rotary International and received awards for his work with the Polio Plus Campaign. After moving to Santa Rosa with his wife, Deborah of 55 years, in addition to his family, he enjoyed worldwide travel in six continents, cruises, painting and photography. He continued his penchant for learning by participating in OLLI and SIRS. He is survived by his loving family including his wife Deborah and children Jeffrey (Mary), Tom (Sarah), Jennifer Ammons (Donavon), ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Friends are invited to share a Celebration of his Life with the family at the First Presbyterian Church, 1550 Pacific Ave, Santa Rosa on Saturday, December 22 at 2:00 p.m. Memorial Contributions in his honor to Memorial Hospice, Santa Rosa Symphony, and/or Sonoma County Museum will be very much appreciated.
