Santa Rosa-Doris Marie Brinson, age 75, passed away at Sutter Medical Center on Tuesday, November 6, 2012. She was born in Healdsburg on August 25, 1937, a daughter of Frank T. and Rose (Steele) Madera. She worked as a florist for many years. Doris was a loving mother, grandmother and sister, and was dearly loved by her family, community and friends. Doris was proud of her accomplishments as a Native American Traditional Dancer, her Native American Heritage, and being a member of Lytton Rancheria. She is survived by five children, Margie Mejia, William Brooks, Teresa Brooks, Richard Brooks, and Starr Brooks; 14 beloved grandchildren, and 30 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rose and Henry Zunino; a brother, Frank Madera; a sister, Palomo Ramel; and two grandchildren, Victoria Brooks and Daniel Shearer. Funeral services will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 10, 2012 at Daniels Chapel of the Roses, 1225 Sonoma Ave., Santa Rosa, with the Rev. Fr. Thomas Devereaux officiating.
