Georgene LARUE

Passed away peacefully on March 25, 2013 one week before her 89th birthday. She was born in Morton, IL and graduated from University of Illinois along with her two sisters, Rozanna Rayburn and Priscilla Mills. She received her Masters degree in Education from University of Maryland and retired as a school librarian before moving to Sebastopol in 1980. Her husband, Jerrold LaRue, of 62 years preceded her in 2008. They leave a daughter, Christine and son, George, his wife Sandy, along with grandsons Lane, Max and Fletcher LaRue and Jeff, Danny and Mike Hodges and two great granddaughters, Ally and Julie Hodges, and nieces Suzanne Rayburn and husband Lynn Small, Shelley Naftel and Becky Yates and nephews Brian LaRue and wife Mary Jo, Rick LaRue and wife Becky, and Ed Rayburn. Georgene was active in P.E.O., Newcomers of Sebastopol, Santa Rosa Library, past president of Graton Club, usher for 25 years at the Santa Rosa Repertory Theater, and an avid bridge player. Georgene was passionate about funding scholarships through sewing and crafts. The family appreciates the exemplary care provided throughout her life by Dr. Rhonda Berney, and Suzanne Rayburn, her niece, who provided nursing care at Healdsburg Senior Living Center where Georgene lived for the past two years. Donations may be made to PEO Scholarship funds, Chapter MH, in care of Sue Cochran, 1658 Tarkenton Ct., Santa Rosa 95403. Friends are invited to a celebration of life in the conference room at 35 Stony Point Rd. on April 6th at 3 p.m.
