Greta was born in Wheaton, Kansas to Mary and Ormond Buchanan. She was the middle child of three having two brothers Robert and Jack. At an early age the family moved to California living in Novato, then moving to Petaluma. After attending schools in Petaluma she moved to Southern California. In 1952, she married Peter Callinan and raised a family of six children. She is survived by her daughter Joyce, her son Chris (wife Jeanine) son Gary (wife Theresa) son Joseph (wife Janet) and son Jeff (wife Denise). Her oldest son Pete Jr. was sadly lost to her in 1974. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. After living in New Jersey, the family returned to Sonoma County and settled in Rohnert Park. She was involved in the new beginnings of Rohnert Park as President of the Women's Club and organizer for the free baby clinic. But most importantly to her was the role of wife and mother. By example she taught us that love and family were the greatest accomplishments a person could achieve. There was nothing too big or too small that you could ask of her and she would be there for you. She passed peacefully on February 27 at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital surrounded by loving family. Her husband of 60 plus years said "She was truly the woman behind the man." A celebration of life will be held on March 23 at 1:00 p.m. at the Rohnert Park Community Center, 5401 Snyder Lane, Rohnert Park. Memorial contributions to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital Foundation or . Santa Rosa Mortuary Eggen & Lance Chapel, 545-3747.
