Died peacefully after a valiant four-year struggle on February 3, 2014, at Kaiser Hospital. Harry was born on February 16, 1926, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He moved to Santa Rosa in 1997 after his wife of 48 years, Faye Sandler, passed away. Harry served in the Coast Guard during World War II. He married Janet Harris in 1999 and enjoyed many years traveling around the world and exploring cultures, music, food, wine, and baseball. He left his children, Gal Cohen-Sandler (Jill) of Santa Rosa and Ellen Kolman (Ken) of Israel. Harry also leaves his step-children, Scott Harris (Michelle) of Santa Rosa, Cathy Falco(Richard)of Petaluma, Linda Siegel (Sheldon) of Greenbrae, and Julie Harris (Mathew Stewart) of Fairfax. Harry is survived by twelve grandchildren (Mark, Ali, Stephanie, Matt, Kim, Alan, Stephen, Rosie, Hannah, Aiden, Sophie and Ari). Harry, who preferred to be known by his nickname "Matz", was a butcher and store manager for thirty years. He was a life-long Yankees fan and was known for his vast baseball knowledge. He loved to tell stories about the "good old days in Philly" and his fond memories of growing up watching Babe Ruth and all the greats of yesteryear play America's Pastime. He shared a love of classical music and was an avid wine collector.
