She was born on July 27, 1923 to Ralph and Dosola Mazzotti in Occidental, attending Meeker Grammar School and Tomales High School. She met and married her husband Charles Kelly, a native San Franciscan in 1948. They moved to the San Francisco Sunset District where they raised their family. She was an active member of Holy Name Parish. Following Charley's untimely death in 1962, Josephine began her career in food service with the San Francisco Unified School District. She retired in 1989 and moved that year back to Sonoma County to be near her children and family. These years were spent building many new memories and forming many new friendships while watching her many grandchildren and great grandchildren grow. She enjoyed playing games and cards and tending to her small garden. Her days were filled with volunteering time at her Church whenever needed, visiting her many friends and reminiscing the "Occidental Days" with her relatives. Her true passion was cooking for others and she was a wonderful cook. We will always remember and miss the many wonderful meals she prepared for family and friends from "Jo's Kitchen".
