Judith (Johnson) LITTLE

Judy Little, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all she met, passed away on November 13, 2012. She was 73. Born on August 4, 1939 in Charlotte, Judy was the first daughter of the late Lester and Louise Myers Rock. After her graduation from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill nursing school in 1961, Judy moved to the San Francisco Bay Area where she met and later married Nels G. Johnson, Jr. and raised two sons, Nels G. Johnson III and Michael G. Johnson. In 1981 Judy moved with her sons to Santa Rosa where she helped establish the cardiac surgery center at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital. She earned her Master's degree in nursing at the Sonoma State University and worked as a nurse practitioner at Santa Rosa Community Hospital's Department of Public Health. Judy re-connected with Butch Little at their 40th East Mecklenburg High School (Charlotte, NC) reunion, and she returned to Charlotte in 1992 where they married and lived happily until her passing. Always placing the welfare and concerns of others before her own, Judy will be remembered as an ardent, committed care-giver. In her recreation she always endeavored to develop her creative side; she was a passionate gardener and knitter, and later in life became an accomplished painter. In addition to her husband, Butch, Judy is survived by her two sons; Nels Johnson and his wife Dena of Millbrae, CA and Mike Johnson and his wife Veronica Blackwell of San Francisco, CA; two step-sons, Rich Little and his wife, Tasse and Eric Little and his wife Betsy, all of Charlotte, NC; ten grandchildren, Erik and Paul Johnson, Charlotte and Audrey Johnson, Will, Jake, Ben and Sam Little and Ginnie and Katie Little; and a sister, Linda Sing and her husband, Bill of Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina. Condolences and correspondence may be sent via email to judylittle080439@gmail.com. Memorials may be sent to the Charles M. Shulz Foundation, 1 Snoopy Place, Santa Rosa, CA 95403.
