Michael A. "Mike" RICKS

Passed away in Santa Clara on Friday, November 2, 2012, with his family at his side. Beloved husband of Sharon Ricks for 40 years; loving father of Allen Ricks of Florida and Vance Ricks of Redwood Valley; adored grandfather of Justin and Lillian Ricks of Redwood Valley; beloved son of Catherine Ricks of Sunnyvale; dear brother of Patrick Ricks and Elaine King, both of Texas and preceded in death by sister Kelly Ricks; also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and many friends. Following high school, Mike received his BA Degree in Social Science. He was an automotive Technician and Inspector for 40 years. In Mike's life, family was first. He and Sharon enjoyed finding "out of the way" tropical islands, their last trip being a visit to see Allen in Florida and snorkeling in the Florida Keys. Mike loved boating, camping trips (particularly at Pillsbury Lake), sports, and watching the experiences of fatherhood with his own son; horseshoes - which led him to organize his annual Halloween Horseshoe Tournaments in 2001, and a sport everyone he knew had to learn, barbequing and making his famous Bloody Marys that won a contest in Chico. A life-long Raider's fan, he loved to tailgate, and knew everyone around him. His grandchildren will long remember the special breakfasts he cooked just for them.
