Miles Earl CHRISTY Sr.

June 26, 1921 - Feb. 6, 2013 Miles died peacefully in his sleep in San Marcos, CA. He was born to Earl and Mildred Christy in Ithaca, MI. In World War II, he served as a medic in the 99th Infantry Division which fought in The Battle of the Bulge. He was married happily to the former Cornelia Plamondon from 1943 until her death in 1987. While working as a postal clerk and later supervisor, Miles built the family home north of Santa Rosa. Miles played the piano for fun at parties and family gatherings. His interests included Barber Shoppers, golf, the GIANTS, the 49ers, fishing, and trailering. He earned an AA degree from Santa Rosa Junior College. Miles retired as Post Master of Sonoma in 1983. He later was married happily to World War II acquaintance Lucy Aurit, for 25 years, until the time of his death. Miles is survived by those who loved him: wife Lucy, sons Miles Jr. and Marc; grandchildren Kirstin, Heather, Benjamin, Philip, and Owen; great-grandchildren Tahj, Tahlana, and Tahlia; half-brother Eugene; and step-children Phil, Mark, Jenny, and Dave. Miles' funeral will be held on Feb. 27, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon, CA. Memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer's Foundation.
