Passed away peacefully on the morning of December 22, 2012. She was born in Orinda California into one of the orginal families there. She graduated from U.C. Berkeley with a teaching credential and her first job was at Hydsville elementary in 1952 teaching a K-3 class. Shortly after, she married Lieutenant Walter Dorn. She spent the next twenty years being an outstanding Army officer wife, traveling the world, and entertaining. She always taught and her last thirty years of teaching were at Bernard Eldridge in Petaluma where she had the distinction of having the same first grade class room. Of course she couldn't balance a check book, but she loved to teach kids how to read. She had an incredible love of the family ranch in Redway, CA. She spent her spare time on stream clearance projects where she would set chokers at fifty. She was an avid tree planter. After retiring mom moved to Eureka, CA to spend time with her only grandchildren Katie and Kenzie Dorn. She enjoyed hiking with them on the ranch and watching them mature into beautiful young ladies. In mom's latter years, she again travelled the world with her best friend Sherri Lewis. They went to Africa, Egypt, Jordan, Russia, Cambodia and Europe. They were wonderful travelling companions and were always planning and packing for a trip. She is survived by her son Richard and wife lynn and Katie and Mackenzie Dorn all of Eureka, Ca At her request there will be no services.
