Ray FIORI

Passed away on June 13, 2013 in Healdsburg, CA. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Virginia Fiori of Sebastopol, daughter Tamela Mesenbrink and her husband Gus of Sebastopol, son Kim Fiori and wife Robin of Healdsburg, four grand-daughters, four great grand-daughters, and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his brother George Fiori, Sr. and two sisters Lena Piazza and Corinda Gleason. A native of Santa Rosa, age 88. Ray was raised in Occidental and a graduate from Tomales High School, Veteran of the US Air Force during World War II as a Bellygunner, after a medical discharge from service he returned to Occidental to help his mother and father run the family restaurant. During this time he also worked as a window dresser at Rosenburgs in Santa Rosa, where he saw the same woman walk by each day, one evening, he saw this woman on the dance floor at Lena's Restaurant and asked her to dance. The mystery woman was the love of his life, Virginia; they married in December 1945. Later he and his brother George "Papa" took over the family business and ran it for 20 years. Ray co-owned Fiori's Pub & Café with his nephew George Fiori, Jr. until retirement in 1990. An avid Gardner, Ray's greatest joy was spending time with his granddaughters and great granddaughters.
