Eugene A. (Gene) VAUGHN

Passed away on September 4, 2013 from complications of pneumonia. He was 84 years old. Devoted husband to Mimi Vaughn, the two seemed to be joined at the hip and the heart for the past 48 years. Loving father of one son and three daughters - Kelly Vaughn (Chris), Lisa Burnett (Scott), Mimi Heiden (Randy Keyes), Lori Enz (Tony). Adored grandfather of Max and Alex Vaughn, Christina Batey, Ricky Burnett, Rob and Darren Pitchford, Natalie Enz, and adored great grandfather of Michael, Matthew, Spencer and Anthony. Cherished uncle of Susan Hoke and the brother of the late Lucille Peasley. Gene was born in Los Angeles on June 5, 1929 to the late Jesse Vaughn and Cecil Dushane. After graduation from high school, he joined the U.S. Navy and served his country in Guam and Alaska. He also had a love of aircrafts and worked as an aircraft mechanic in Oakland. He moved to Santa Rosa in the 60's and changed careers to become a U.S. Postal Carrier where he enjoyed a long career of over 30 years and made many friends. His hobbies were playing Bingo, fishing (he loved to eat seafood), hunting in his earlier days, and enjoying anything to do with the P-51 Mustang aircraft. He also loved his family and enjoyed visiting with all of them. Friends and family are invited to attend a Chapel service on Thursday, Sep-tember 12, 2013 at 1 p.m. at Eggen & Lance Chapel, 1540 Mendocino Ave., Santa Rosa. Entombment at Santa Rosa Memorial Park.
