Steven Dolowitz Obituary

DOLOWITZ, STEVEN - A Petaluma native, passed away suddenly on December 12, 2006, at the age of 56. Steve attended Wilson School, Petaluma Jr. High, Petaluma High School, Santa Rosa Jr. College and UC in Santa Barbara. He majored in Cultural Anthropology and was always interested in people. He carried this interest with him, when he was managing the family restaurant called "The Eggery" and during his 22 years selling cars for the Honda dealership in Petaluma. Steve loved cars and he loved to sell cars, but most of all he loved people. He made friends with all his customers and they remained faithful through the years. He loved his family, friends, dancing, music, photography and drives in his sports car. Born on a poultry ranch, Steve grew up helping with the chickens. In his teens, he worked for Carithers Dept. Store. Steve traveled for a year after his graduation from college. He returned home and held down a few sales jobs before finding his true love; cars. He was often top salesman for the company and won many awards. We will remember Steve's wonderful smile and sense of humor. He is survived by his parents, Marvin and Shirley Dolowitz; his wife Letha and daughter Iris; his sister Evelyn Nitzberg and her son Leo; his sister Judith Higgins, brother-in-law Tim and their children Lydia, Beth and Ian; and his sister Norma Giddings, husband Tim and their sons Nathan and Daniel; and his two beloved dogs, Angel and Halo. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, December 14, 2006 (Today) at 11:00 a.m. at the PARENT-SORENSEN MORTUARY & CREMATORY, Petaluma. Contri-butions can be made to the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America, National Headquarters, 386 Park Ave. S. 17 Floor, New York, N.Y. 10016.

Dear Letha, Iris and Dolowitz Family,
I am deeply saddened and shocked to hear of Steve's passing. My memories of Steve go back to my days as a manager at Back to Basics and as a member of the Edible Complex food co-op. We all had some great times back then! My husband and I were rececently reaquainted with Steve when we purchased a new car from him. He looked great and was beaming with pride when he spooke of his beautiful daughter, Iris. When I found myself going through difficult times in my life, I often thought about Steve and his positive attitude toward living life to its fullest. I will miss him dearly. My love and blessings to you all, Peggy Dunn Heil

I am absolutely shocked and my heart goes out to Steve's family. I went to school w/ Iris for awhile (very sweet girl) and I helped Steve when he came into my pharmacy. He was such a nice guy and always talked highly of his family and how proud he was of Iris. He was a genuinely nice and warm individual and will be very missed!

I worked with Steve years ago when the Honda store was owned by the Benson Group. I will always remember Steve's inherent kindness and his love for his family. What a loss to this community to lose such a good person as Steve. My thoughts are with his family.

Steve will be missed very much by his family and his family at Hansel Honda. He sure knew how to liven things up here and this place will not be the same without him here. I will miss you Steve.

I was very saddened to hear about Steve's sudden passing. My heart goes out to all his family, and especially Iris, who is about the age I was when my father passed away. May Steve's memory be for a blessing on all.
