Antonio Gaitan Obituary

Born March 8, 1930 in Houston, Texas. On December 26, 2010, at 80 years of age, he went home to be with our Lord. Antonio is survived by his wife, the love of his life and best friend for 62 years, Delorez S. Gaitan. He was known for devotion to his wife and family. He was seldom seen without his love and best friend Delorez. When and wherever seen, they would be hand in hand or sitting alongside each when driving. Father did not believe in bucket seats in his vehicles. Even up to his final days, Father would ask if Mother was okay and being cared for while he was in the hospital. He is also survived by his 13 children: Antonio, Jr. (Dorothy), Petra (Jose), Alfonso (Mary), Mary (Jorge), Elias (Alice), Gloria (Arturo), Esperansa, Elizabeth, Luis, Juanita, Delia, Diana (Rick and only sister Chieta Garcia. His son Ramon (Jennifer) preceded him in death. He is also survived by 31 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He married at 19 years of age shortly after he started working for the railroad in Houston, Texas. He worked his way across the states, ending up and settling down in Windsor, CA in 1953. Father retired after working 27 years for the "NWPR" (North Western Pacific Railroad) as a machine operator. Father was always helping anyone in need. He helped raise many more than his 13 children. He always loved to laugh and joke. We always recall his saying, "Everything is possible if you're willing to pay the cost." It reminds me of the verse Phil: 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me." Antonio will be missed but not forgotten for there's a part of him in all who met him. We love you Father. "It's not goodbye but see you later." Friends and family are invited to a Visitation on Tuesday January 4, 2010 at the Daniels Chapel of the Roses, 1225 Sonoma Avenue between the hours of 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. A Memorial Service will follow at 5:00 p.m. at the Family Bible Church, 697 Benicia Drive, Santa Rosa. Interment will be held at Shiloh District Cemetery, Windsor, CA, on Wednesday, January 5, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. DANIELS CHAPEL OF THE ROSES FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, 525-3730
