Phyllis Fritze Obituary

Passed away peacefully on December 3, 2010. Born in San Francisco, February 23, 1926. Preceded in death by her husband of 60 years Melvin A. Fritze. Beloved mother of Linda Walther (Rick), and Jim Fritze; adored grandmother of Leanne Dyer (David); proud great grandmother to Ryan and Andrew Dyer; and loving sister to Jean Russell of Lake San Marcos. She was a life long fan of the Forty Niners, the SF Giants and was ecstatic when the Giants won the World Series. At Phyllis' request, no formal services will be held. She had said on her last days, "No crying, let's go out laughing". Her family and friends will miss her terribly, but know that she is now in a better place. If desired, donations in her memory may be made to the Arthritis Foundation, 657 Mission St. #603, SF, CA 94105-4120, or to the charity of your choice. I have so many memories of both of your parents. Taking the bus downtown SF and having your Dad show us around the radio station and then he would take us to lunch. Your Mom's amazing sense of humor and her smile that could light up a room. She always would make me feel welcome and would take the time to talk to me. She was just plain fun! While she is in a much better place, I know her family will miss her deeply. My sincerest sympathy to all and if you need anything...just ask. Love you! Colleen (Ramsey) Plate

Linda and family,
I am so glad that I had the pleasure of knowing your mother growing up. Your house was always full of fun. Both your mom and dad were characters and always made your friends feel welcome. How lucky you were to have such wonderful parents. Your mom will always be remembered in our hearts and for the wonderful wife, mother and grandmother she was. She is at peace now and with her beloved Mel.
On Christmas at the Oakmont church...I will light a candle in her memory. God Bless you all during this holiday season.
With Love, Linda Maxey (DeMerritt)

Linda, Rick, and family,
Even though I didn't have the pleasure of knowing your Mother, I am certain that her kindness, loving, and gentle ways are evident in you, Linda. You are such a kind, caring, loving, and gentle woman who goes out of her way to make everyone feel special. May you and your family be at peace knowing that your Mother is in God's loving arms and no longer in pain. Please be comforted in knowing your friends
are surrounding you and your family in prayer lifting you up during this Christmas season. In Christian love, Candy Merritt

I didn't have the pleasure of meeting Mrs. Fritze until my adult life. She was such a warm and gracious lady then, I can only imagine how vivacious she was earlier in her life. What I did see was a woman who loved her family. She will surely be missed by all who knew her. Cherish your memories Linda and Leanne and keep those memories alive for Ryan and Andrew.

Mrs. Fritze was filled with energy and love for life. She loved to laugh and was very popular with Linda's friends, during those tough teen years. She was even fun when teen aged boys came to visit. Mrs. Fritze's kindness and dignity have always been evident in how Linda treated everyone. My life was enriched because she showed such kindness when I was a young man. Her family will certainly miss her. Ron Merritt
