Ada Watson Obituary

Passed away December 23, 2010 at The Oaks Long-Term-Care facility in Petaluma. Born August 27, 1913 in Requa, CA, where the Eel River meets the Pacific, as the fourth of six children to Joseph Cortis Kinder and Edith Antoinette Kinder. A 65-year resident of Santa Rosa, Ada was preceded in death by her first husband, Lewis Purdy, her second husband, Richard "Red" Watson, her sons Donald and Richard Jr., all of her siblings and her two long-term companions, dachshunds, Rusty and Tara. She is survived by her son, Mervin Purdy (Jackie) of Shingle Springs; daughter, Bernice Purcell (Cecil-deceased) of Humble, Texas; son, Michael D. Watson (Anita) of Santa Rosa and daughter Kathleen Mangiantini (Michael) of Rio Dell, 18 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 19 great-great-grandchildren. When her younger children were growing up, Ada was very active in the PTA and a school volunteer (Room Mother) believing a quality education for every child was important. In her later years, she could be seen "tooling" around the Junior College District on her bright red electric scooter, sneaking up on the local grey squirrels whenever possible. She will be sorely missed by her large, loving extended family. A private family memorial will be held at a later date. SANTA ROSA MORTUARY EGGEN & LANCE CHAPEL, 545-3747

Hi Grandma I came across this today, I had never seen it. You know were more like a Mom to me, helping raise me and spending so much time with you until I was 18. Thank you for the extreme love and discipline you gave me as a child. I became a good Mom because of your example as my Grandma. I love you and miss you so much... Tell Grandpa I miss him so much and I'm glad you both are back together for eternity. Mom, Uncle Mike, Uncle Dick and Uncle Donald are all up there with you.

Mom, Today is Father's Day which always saddens me that Dad is gone but now even more that both of you have gone to heaven. I don't like being an ORPHAN! But I'm not, I'm a child of the King Lord Jesus! I miss you and love you. See you soon! Kathy

Mom, ever since you were unable to care for them Anita adopted your orchids. She's been giving them all the TLC you would. They bloomed in time for Mother's Day. Happy Mother's Day.

Mom we went to the "service" Michael & Mervin had for you. Some how seeing you name on a metal headstone made it all too real for me but I know you are at peace with Jesus. As I struggle to live without you I hope you know that I will always love and appreciate you. Hugs from here to there. Your Daughter and honored to be that, Kathy

Mom, after all these years the light has gone out but the spirit remains. Knowing that you're with dad, Don, Dick and Aunt Marge lessens the burden on my heart. Its been a very long and sometimes troubling journey but it's finally over. Enjoy your well-earned rest and take good care of Tara, we miss her too.

Grandma, you were the most amazing woman in the world and I can't believe you are gone! I always teased you how you weren't old but I guess 97 did give you the right to be called old. You always knew how to make me feel better. So happy for you that you are not in pain any more and that you can dance again with Grandpa and Jesus. Hugs from us all Ga Ga!
