Alice Petersen Obituary

Alice Winters Petersen died at home December 21, 2010 age 97. Born near Ferndale, California, December 17, 1913, she moved at the age of six to the new family ranch in Dry Creek Valley, where the Lake Sonoma hatchery and picnic grounds are now located. In 1933, after graduating from Geyserville High and Santa Rosa Junior College, she married neighbor Carl Petersen and moved less than a mile down Dry Creek to the ranch where she lived for 77 years. Pre-deceased by her husband Carl and her fourth son, Jerry Petersen; she is survived by her other four sons, Carl, John, Pete, and Ed, and their spouses; as well as eleven grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. The oldest of 11 children, she is also survived by a sister, Betty Morris of Eureka, and two brothers, Bert Winters of Susanville and Robert Winters of Las Cruces, New Mexico. Services will be held January 8th at 11:00 a.m. at the Healdsburg Community Church, 1100 University Avenue, Healdsburg. In lieu of flowers, contributions could be made to North County Hospice or Healdsburg Community Church.
