Bernice passed away on July 27, 2013 after a long illness. She was born in Petaluma, one of five siblings, Marian, Florence, Ruth, Robert and herself. She was married to Gerald P Ferrari (deceased) on November 19, 1950. Bernice had three children Dante Ferrari (who died shortly after he was born), Carol Ferrari and Gail Ferrari. She has left behind her two daughters, her granddaughter Christina Ferrari and her two great grandchildren Cameron and Hannah Westphal. Bernice was a devoted mother, wife and grandmother. Bernice was an OB/GYN Nurse for decades at Memorial and Community Hospitals in Santa Rosa, Ca. She then went to work for Colonial Dames and traveled Northern California as a sales rep. She also worked with her husband at their business, Redwood Empire Press in Santa Rosa. She later worked with her family at the Farm House Restaurant in Sebastopol, CA. Bernice loved and adored her family. She was the matriarch or our family as well as the one who held us together. She was kind and thoughtful of everyone she encountered. If you knew Bernice, you would always remember her smile. Bernice's second love was gardening. Every year she would plant a 1/4 acre garden in the back of her and her husband's business. The gardens of Bernice held the bounty of spring and summer with flowers and veggies of all sorts. Bernice with her husband would attend a potluck group with their friends for years, creating such a tradition that the group was in the paper. Bernice ran marathons for twenty years and when she wasn't spending time with family, gardening, or running a race, she could be found reading a good book. We love you Bernice. You have made such a positive impact on us all. Funeral Services will be on Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Pleasant Hills Memorial Park, 1700 Pleasant Hill Rd, Sebastopol. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Catholic Charities or Memorial Hospice.
