Santa Rosa - Carmelita Cordova, age 79, daughter of the late Hensley Thompson and Ramona Cordova Carrio entered into Heaven Saturday, November 17, 2012 at 2:18 a.m. She was an Elder member of the Dry Creek Rancheria Band of Pomo Indians. She is survived by sisters; Marie, Thelma, Gloria and Cynthia and brothers Max and George; children Joaquin (Janice), Rose (Doug), Arthur (Pauline) and David (Holly). She was the proud grandmother of 18 and great-grandmother of 31 and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her son Arnold, brother Alvin "Big Foot" and sisters Lena, Jane and Maggie. Carmelita was famous to family and friends for her large Christmas plays, Easter parties and her Indian tacos and burritos and grease bread. She loved to teaching children about her Jesus, preaching the word, singing and playing music for the Lord. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 24, 2012 at Daniels Chapel of the Roses, 1225 Sonoma Ave., Santa Rosa with the Rev. Delmar Billy Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Shiloh addition cemetery in Windsor. Viewing will be at the funeral home on Friday, November 23 from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. A very special Thank You to Fircrest Convalescent Hospital for their wonderful care and accommodations during our mothers last days.
