Passed away peacefully into Heaven on March, 2, 2013, with his family by his side. Dearly beloved husband of Maria Magda (Wala). Loving father of Paul Anthony Magda of Sebastopol; Gregory Charles Magda (Shannon) of Ashland, OR; and Christopher Dean Magda (Andrea) of Fort Meyers, FL. Adored grandfather of Anthony, Benjamin, Amy, Chia Fae, Reanya, and Mayli Feyh; and great grandfather of Jaymon and Jeloni. Dear brother of Elizabeth Parks of Ortonville, MI; Magda Martine of Taos, NM; Joseph A. Magda (Leslie) of Newcastle, CA; and James J. Magda (Carla) of Hillsborough, CA; and the late Dorothy Holub and the late Shirley O'Donnell. He was also blessed with 18 nieces and nephews. A native of Pennsylvania, he was born on July 12, 1925 to Joseph and Marie Magda. Charles graduated from Michigan State University in 1949 with a degree in Political Science and attended law school at the University of Detroit. He was a World War II veteran serving in the Navy Sea Bees in Hawaii. He earned an accomplished career in the insurance industry including life insurance sales and claims management. He worked also as a paralegal specializing in personal injury cases. In 1952 in Royal Oak, MI, he married Norma Renee Perry with whom he blessed with his three sons. In 1992 he met Maria Passella in "heaven" while traveling on a flight from Helsinki, Finland to Warsaw, Poland. He and Maria were married in Wroclaw, Poland in 1993. The adventurous couple settled in Santa Rosa in 1994. Charles was a parishioner at St. Eugene's Cathedral for 20 years and a member of Knights of Columbus. He loved gardening and sharing walks with Maria around Spring Lake and at the coast. They also shared classical music concerts and annual events at St. Eugene's. He especially looked forward to spending the holidays at the home of his niece and nephew, Rosalie and Joe Parks in Windsor, filling up on Rosalie's home-cooked meals. Friends are invited to celebrate a Funeral Mass on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at 12:30 p.m. at St. Eugene's Cathedral, 2323 Montgomery Drive. Evening Rosary Services will be held on Friday, March 8, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. at the Daniels Chapel of the Roses, 1225 Sonoma Ave., Santa Rosa. A Visitation will be held at the Daniels Chapel of the Roses on Friday, March 8, 2013 beginning at 10:00 a.m. Private family inurnment. If desired, donations in Charles' memory may be made to St. Vincent DePaul of Sonoma County, 610 Wilson St., Santa Rosa, CA 95401.
