Charlie Gondola passed away peacefully at his home on November 29th 2012, surrounded by his loving family and faithful dog, Bella. He is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years Rita Bertolini-Gondola; his three daughters Lisa, Dana and Andrea; and granddaughter Ashley Hurd. He is also survived by his brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, and many nieces and nephews. Charlie was born in Santa Rosa and was a lifelong resident of Sonoma County. He attended Roseland School and Santa Rosa High School where he played football. Charlie served in the army, and was a veteran of the Korean War. He was a welder and machinist by trade and was the owner of DuRite Machine Shop. Over the years, Charlie loved to bowl, play softball, and garden. He built and was the namesake for Charlie's Barbeque. An avid fan of the Giants and the Forty Niners, the thing Charlie was most passionate about was making people laugh. He was a kid at heart and he was always ready to lend a helping hand whenever needed. He was "Uncle Charlie" to everyone he met and will be missed by his large Italian family and cherished lifelong friends. He will be remembered for his kindness, generosity and humor.
