Clarence "Joe" Korte

Passed away peacefully on November 29, 2010 at his Knight's Valley home surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 31, 1924 in St. Cloud, Minnesota. Joe moved to California from Minnesota during World War II to work in the shipyards. While working there, he was introduced to his wife Jean through her brother. They married a short time later. They lived in Richmond, CA. where they raised their three sons. He worked as an ironworker and owned B & R Steel in Richmond California. After retirement in 1982, the couple moved to Knight's Valley to live next door to their oldest son. In addition to his loving wife of 65 years, Joe is survived by his three sons: David (Barbara) of Knights Valley, Dennis (Kathy) of Santa Rosa and Robert (Richarda) of Martinez. Also mourning the passing of Joe are his grandchildren: Mark Korte of Bayreuth, Germany, Doug (Maia) Korte of Richmond, Randy Korte of Richmond, Jennifer (Jerry) Tiangsing of Martinez, Karin (Matthew) Salling of Hidden Valley Lake and Jim (Kelly) Korte of Healdsburg. Joe's great-grandchildren will greatly miss their Papa Joe. They are: Angela Korte of Crockett, Anastasia Albert of Sacramento, Abigail Salling of Hidden Valley Lake, Andrea and Kyle Tiangsing of Martinez, and Lillian, Daelynn, Page, Allison, Mary and Virginia Korte of Healdsburg. He and Mary had a special bond, as they shared the same birthday. He will be missed by many nieces, nephews and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Knight's Valley Volunteer Fire Department, 16850 Spencer Lane, Calistoga, CA 94515. Services will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Calistoga on Friday, December 3rd at 11:00 a.m., and a reception at the church hall followed by a burial at Evergreen Cemetery in Knight's Valley.
