Clifford M. Markuson passed away on April 2, 2013 at the age of 101. Cliff was born August 29, 1911 in Gull Lake Saskatchewan to Albert and Mary Markuson. In 1929 when he moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota. where he attended the University of Minnesota. At the age of 22 Cliff hiked and worked his way across the Canadian Provinces in search of work. He returned to Saskatchewan, met Antoinette (Toni) Vachon and they were married in 1940. In 1942 Cliff joined the Canadian army where he was a sergeant until the end of the war. In 1968 Cliff moved with his wife and two daughters to California where he began a new career in the Real Estate business eventually opening his own Real Estate office in Sebastopol. At the age of 81 he moved to Arizona where he enjoyed hiking in the high desert and playing golf. In 2008 he moved back to Santa Rosa to be closer to his family. Cliff resided until his passing at The Lodge at Paulin Creek in Santa Rosa where he enjoyed the daily events, the Sunday bus rides and the friendships of the many residents who live there. Cliff is survived by his daughters Connie McCullough, Patricia Paulsen and his son in law Greg Paulsen, his grandchildren Richard McCullough, James Nielsen, Nicole Nielsen and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Antoinette, his sister Eva Jasken and her husband George. A private memorial service will be held at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery at a later date.
