David Mills Obituary

He lived in Seaside, Ca, Passed away peacefully at age 63 surrounded by his loving family in Salem, Ore. Beloved son of Lucille Battison. Pre-deceased by father, Eldon Mills and grandparents, Peter and Flora Maestretti of Petaluma. He served in the US Postal Service in Monterey retiring after 32 years of service. Educated Petaluma High School, Santa Rosa J.C, University of Pacific, and Fuller Theological Seminary. He is survived by his adored step-children: Eddie Birch (Donna), Debbie Thompson (Michael and Morgan) Lorrie King (Burt), and their mother Susan Sawyer, Salem, Ore; loving son Rama Steven Mills-Lewis (Sarah) and mother Sharon Lewis of Kelseyville, Lake Co.; step-sister Dolores (Mills) Yarbrough, Sandy, Ore.; sisters: Deanna McCoy, (Steve, Todd, Jenny) and Sandra Woodruff, (Lee); aunt Ursula Rodgers, Sonoma Co.; and numerous cousins; John Thompson soul-brother and wife Holly, Monterey. His many friends will miss him greatly. He loved theater and took part in local plays. He was a "Trekkie", an avid golfer and an enthusiastic cook. A gifted musician, played guitar and sang. He loved 60s folk music and had an amazing memory for words. An endearing man, compassionate, gregarious and fun sense of humor. He wanted to live in Hawaii and was seldom seen without wearing one of his 37 Hawaiian shirts. A memorial service was held in Salem, Ore. If you wish to honor him wear a Hawaiian shirt on his birthday December 4. Donations, if you wish, may be made to your local Hospice, liver cancer research, or your favorite charity.
