Passed away peacefully on April 21, 2012 in Forestville, CA. Don, 87 years, was born to James and Esther McSkimming in Santa Barbara, CA. He is survived by his loving wife LaVerne, also daughter Laura (Fred) Willis of Forestville, son David (Feh) of Santa Barbara, grandchildren; Liz (Henry) Montalvo, and Dan (Staci) McSkimming and four great- grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Barbara Ollis of Santa Barbara. Don was a plastering contractor by trade and served in the Army Airforce as a Corporal in World War II. Don and his devoted wife LaVerne shared 47 wonderful years together creating and enjoying their beautiful home and gardens. He was loved by his family as well as his friends and was a champion cribbage player. Don loved to ride his bicycle and completed a long distance ride from San Francisco to Santa Barbara with his son, David. Don spent many happy days fishing off Timber Cove with friend Lee. He loved music and had an incredible memory, always singing a song or cheering people up with a joke or two. He was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed by his family, friends and companion 'Rudy'. No services will be held in respect of his wishes. The family would like to Thank everyone who helped care for him at home these last few years, especially his favorite caregiver Stephen Wanyugi.
