Evelyn Rego Obituary

Passed away peacefully at Creekside in Santa Rosa on September 2, 2010 just a few weeks shy of her 96th birthday. Born on September 28, 1914 in Oakland, California, Evelyn was one of eight siblings. At the age of 16, she proudly graduated one year early from Castlemont High School in Oakland. She worked as a waitress/cook, and she also worked at Montgomery Ward for many years. She was a spunky lady, loving, independent, and strong. She loved gardening, especially roses, and never let a leaf fall out of place in her yard. She enjoyed playing games with her family, Yahtzee a favorite. She loved listening for hours to her husband Vic's beautiful operatic voice. Preceded in death by her dear husband Victor Rego and beloved son Charles Schaefer, she is survived by her remaining two beloved sons Daniel Schaefer and Wm. Mike Lucey. She is also survived by her devoted grandchildren Tamra "Tami" Park, Aaron Lucey, and Tiffany Gonzales, and by her great-grandchildren, Jonah and Evelyn Lucey, Sophia Lizarde and Jacob Gonzales. We love you and will miss you!

Dear Lucey Family,

I was saddened to hear of the passing of Evelyn. Evelyn was a lovely lady and so lucky to be loved by such a wonderful family. I'm sure this time is even more difficult with the passing of Chuck a few months ago. Believe me, I've spent a lot of time lately thinking and praying for your family. Tami, I know you where with your grandmother in her last moments. How special to know she didn't pass alone. I love you all.

Dear Tami, Aaron, Uncle Mike, Aunt Linda, and all the family,
Your Grandmother/Mom was a very special lady and full of spunk. I enjoyed her wit and always loved seeing her and talking to her when she came to Beaver to visit. She was so proud of all of you! She is at peace now and my heart goes out to each and every one of you.
With deepest sympathy and love,
Aunt Betty, Uncle Paul and Paula Jo
