Our Journey

Mama, as I sit by your bedside, I close my eyes

My mind and heart begin to move in fast motion

Running through the fields of life and love

Envisioning a small girl holding her mother's hand

Exploring all that life's journey has to offer

I feel the tight grasp of your hand on mine

Encouraging me to slow down and take some time

Time to stop and smell the beautiful roses

Feel the warmth of the sun, and lie in the soft grass

Just to take a moment in time to look up at the sky

Take a moment to feel, smell and view all of God's

miraculous creations He made for us.

Mama, you taught me so much in life of God's Love

You showed me by example in your life about God's Love

You taught me the meaning of Loving Unconditionally

You always tried to protect me from Life's harms

Through Juvenile immaturity, many times refuted your efforts

Although, through those hardships in life, I learned valuable lessons

They helped to mold and make me into who I am today

You helped me weather through all of life's growing pains

You helped to turn difficulties into character building blocks

Mama, you believed in me when no one else did or cared to

You were there to wipe my scrapped knees & tears away

You always said not to worry that everything would be alright

You taught me about Faith, Hope and Strength

You taught me how to pray, trust and rely on God for everything

I know Mama we struggled in our relationship throughout the years

Many childhood issues I carried as burdens for years unanswered

Then, I heard those too familiar words in the World today

The doctor saying, "Your Mother has Cancer!"

From that moment forward, our truest journey began

Together as Mother & daughter, hand in hand

It was one of the hardest journeys in life to walk

Knowing too well that Chemo was only buying time

That is when you taught me the greatest lessons about time

The true value of time is not about quantity but quality

Making the time spent together truly count for something

The time spent together was filled with many tears & much laughter

Walking together through so many memories shared over the years

Memories of family events and those that only belonged to you and me

Throughout that time spent, new discoveries were made about one another

Then, we had the opportunity to revisit those childhood issues unanswered

I will never forget your words that day Mama, after pouring out my heart

You said "Why did you wait so long? It breaks my heart that you carried

those heavy burdens for all those years"

That moment in time, you unloaded the burdens and gave me the answers

You gave me the closure and peace we needed at journeys end

You were always so filled with generosity and love for those around you

All your life, you shared and gave of yourself to family & friends

Remembering one of your greatest joys being surrounded by family

Always cooking and feeding everyone with meals fit for an army of people

Always making sure others were taken care of and their hands were full leaving

Also making sure when others crossed your path in life, you shared the love of God

Always making sure to share the word of God & Eternal Life

Seeing you on your knees in prayer for all your family and friends

I open my eyes, and physically viewed you once again

You looked so frail, eyes closed and further aged for your years

I know you could not answer me but you could hear me

Stroking your hand with streaming tears, I realized the time is near

The time to say good-bye on this side of Life's shore and release you

You will be able to be reunited with Dad's opened arms

Yes, in Heaven, Dad now has 2 arms to hold you.

You will be able to dance with Jesus and the angels on the streets of Gold

You will begin your Eternal Life, that words can't begin to express

You will always remain in my heart and spirit until we meet again

I Love You Mama!

Alan and family:
My prayers are with all of you at this time. My mom passed away earlier this year and it isn't easy. May God's peace be with you through out the coming days.

Gloria was my cousin. The last time I talked with her she was hopeful about a new treatment, yet always more hopeful about her life in Christ. I praise God that she is now at peace with her loved ones.

We ended our last phone conversation because a son and grandson had just entered her door after fishing and what a happy time it was. She was always happy.

I will so miss sharing family history with her about the time our parents came to this country together (Alice and Chester) right up to her ministry bible studies.

Her name fills my mothers diaries from her teens until she married and I remember special times with her as a child.

I loved her and am so glad I got to see more of her after she moved back from Calilfornia.

God bless you all as you grieve the loss of this wonderful woman. I grieve with you as I had hoped to share so much more with her.
