John Lauritzen Obituary

John was born on March 10, 1927, and passed away November 1, 2010, of congestive heart failure, surrounded by his loving family. John was born and raised in Petaluma and spent the last 23 years in Kelseyville, CA. He retired from Mare Island Naval Shipyard after a long career as a machinist, beginning at the age of 16. John enjoyed tinkering in the garage on engines and tractors where he spent many enjoyable hours. He was a great mentor of work ethic. He especially enjoyed interacting with and humorous harassment of waitresses and nurses, even to his last days. John is survived by his son, Curt Lauritzen of Sonoma; daughter Lisa (Bill) Wilson, of Meridian, Idaho; daughter Launa (Kevin) of Placerville, CA; four grandchildren, Jake, Zach, Kacie and Josh; and his friend, Barbara Kroboth. He will be greatly missed. Friends and family are invited to a graveside service on Saturday, November 20, 2010, at 11:00 a.m., at Cypress Hill Memorial Park, in Petaluma. Friends and family are also invited to a Celebration of John's Life on Sunday, November 21, 2010, at 2:00 p.m., at Kelseyville Senior Center in Kelseyville, CA, potluck style so all can enjoy his love of food.
