Santa Rosa - John Wayne Piehoff 2/18/52- 12/11/12 John was born in Spartenburg, South Carolina and moved to California at 9 years old with his mother and three brothers. John, along with his mother and brothers, started working with Alan Shanski in the poultry business at the age of 14. John stayed with Petaluma Poultry for 26 years. John then went to work with his brother at Seven Up Bottling Co. of San Francisco where he drove transport trucks for the next 13 years. During that time he also ran his own printing business from home. Once he retired from truck driving he went to work for JDS Uniphase in Santa Rosa as an Engineering Tech. He really enjoyed working in the manufacturing and research and development fields, and he had natural knack for fixing things. John graduated from Petaluma High School in 1970. Throughout the years John also attended several vocational classes at the SRJC to include computers and electronics, and most recently, in 2008, he became a certified EMT with his youngest daughter, Samantha. John enjoyed working with electronics and building computers. He also enjoyed spending time with his family through camping, archery, and caring for the family livestock. He was a supporter of local 4-H and FFA, and volunteered in the Emergency Department of Petaluma Valley Hospital. John was often a man of few words, however you always knew from his facial expressions what was good or bad. He was a man who worked hard and never complained. A man who was generous to a fault with his many graces and talents. John was a loving husband, and doting father. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Janice Piehoff; brothers Buddy Piehoff of Sebastopol and Bill Piehoff of Lakeport; children include his son Dennis Piehoff of Ukiah, and daughters Amanda Piehoff of Petaluma, Elisa Piehoff of Windsor and Samantha Piehoff of Sebastopol. He also has two grand children Austin and Paige Piehoff of Ukiah. John is preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Gary Piehoff of Santa Rosa. Services will be held on Monday, December 17 at 2:00 p.m. at Daniels Chapel of the Roses, 1225 Sonoma Ave., Santa Rosa, CA and are open to all friends and family.
