Jonathan Glass, 36, a native of Santa Rosa, California, passed away on February 25, 2013. Born July 28, 1976, to parents David and Linda Glass, he attended Santa Rosa High School and University of California Davis, earning a Bachelor Degree in Environmental Policy Analysis and Planning. In 1997, he married his high school sweetheart Amie Glass (nee Gerard). Their five-year-old daughter, Eden Rose Glass, was born in 2007. Jonathan touched the lives of many people in Sonoma County through his involvement in the community and his passion for social and environmental issues. An advocate for preserving and increasing public access to wild spaces, he worked for ten years with LandPaths as Field Programs Director, and later as Operations Director. He was instrumental in founding and leading the Santa Rosa Southeast Greenway Campaign. Jonathan had diverse interests including gardening, cooking, music, bike riding, trail running, yoga, camping, hiking, and swimming in cold Sierra mountain rivers. He was happiest spending time with his wife and daughter in the outdoors. A gentle, playful father and fun-loving, thoughtful friend, he was well-loved by those who knew him. Jonathan died unexpectedly after struggling with depression. He is survived by wife Amie Glass and daughter Eden Glass of Santa Rosa; parents David and Linda Glass of Santa Rosa; brother Andrew Glass Hastings of Seattle, Washington; and grandparents Phyllis Glass and Edward and Maribel Lyman of Ridgecrest, California. Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial to celebrate Jonathan's life on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Friedman Center in Santa Rosa. A reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Jonathan Glass Memorial Fund at Exchange Bank or YouCaring.com.
