Joseph Leadem Obituary

Joseph Anthony Leadem, an incorrigible storyteller and an inspiration to his family and friends, passed away December 18, 2010, at the Veterans Home in Yountville. He was 84. The cause was respiratory illness. He will be remembered for his lively sense of humor, his quick wit and his unfailing optimism. Joe was born on February 27, 1926, in Trenton, N.J., to Edward and Anne Marie Leadem, the second oldest of eight boys. He graduated from Central Michigan University and served in the Navy during World War II. Joe, a devout Roman Catholic, married Joyce Hertog in St. Anthony's Village, Minn., in 1950 and had six children: Joe was born in 1955, followed by Anne, John, Mary, Carol and Barbara, in 1966. In 1965, they settled in Piedmont, Calif. Joyce passed away in 2006. Joe was a top sales person wherever he worked. Ultimately, he started his own investment firm in Sacramento, Joseph Leadem & Associates, before retiring in Santa Rosa. Joe was an avid boater and a horse enthusiast. He is survived by his six children and 17 grandchildren along with his brothers Frank, Paul, Wally, and Jim. A memorial service will be held at the Veterans Home on January 13th, 2011.

Joe was a special friend. We shared many stories and laughs during his years ar Agilent Technologies. Joe,Chuck Allen and I once sang :"When Irish Eyes Are Smiling" for a group of visiting ladies in the lobby. All his friends will miss him.
