Born in St. Paul, Minnesota to Wilbur and Lucille Bipes, Keith and his family relocated to San Francisco when he was five years old. A graduate of St. Ignatius High School, Keith met Carolyn Miller and married one year later. Keith went to work for his father at WL Bipes, a sandblasting business in San Francisco. Keith and his brother grew WL Bipes into a highly successful business and, for many years, it was the only union sandblasting company in San Francisco. Keith and his crews worked on many notable buildings and landmarks such as Ghirardelli Square and many of the buildings on the piers along the San Francisco waterfront. Whenever a certain building would come up in conversation, Keith's usual comment was "I sandblasted that". At a routine check-up his doctor detected dark spots on his lungs, most likely as a result of his many years of sandblasting. With this news Keith decided to retire at the early age of 55 and he and Carolyn relocated to the small town of Healdsburg in Sonoma County. He enjoyed his remaining years as an active member of the Son's in Retirement, restoring classic cars in his newly built shop, fishing along the Russian River, bowling and spending time with family and friends. Keith is survived by his wife Carolyn, his children Tami, Mitzi, Chris and Gigi and grandchildren Jessica, Natalie, Jennifer, Sierra, Katie, Nicholas and Max. He will be missed. Family and friends are invited to a celebration of Keith's life. Date and time to be announced. Contributions may be made in Keith's memory to the National Emphysema Foundation, 128 East Avenue, Norwalk, CT 06851.
