Lorena Hess Obituary

Born November 26, 1945 in Vallejo, CA; went home to the Lord on September 22, 2010 after a courageous four-year battle with breast cancer, surrounded by her husband and daughters at her home in Windsor. Lorena graduated from Napa High School in 1963 and went to work for "Ma Bell" right after graduation. Her 30 years with the company led her to many cities in Northern California: Sacramento, Santa Rosa, Novato and San Francisco. After retirement she was able to travel the country in her RV with her husband. One of her favorite things to do was to get in her RV and go! meeting up with family and friends at various RV parks around the country. Lorena was a wonderful wife and mother. She loved being a grandma to her two granddaughters, spoiling them and showering them with love. Those who loved and knew her readily agree, "She was the cutest". She was preceded in death by her mother Edna Ellen Halley and her father James Pershing Dunaway. She leaves behind her beloved husband of 28 years, Robin Hess; her brother James Craig Dunaway (Diana) of Discovery Bay; stepmother Mary Dunaway of Napa; daughters Justine Fenner (Kevin) of Redding and Michele Peterson (Pat) of Kenwood; and stepson Richard Hess (Doreene) of Sacramento. She is survived by her granddaughters Lili Fenner of Redding and Milana Hess of Sacramento, and many nieces and nephews. She will be truly missed. A celebration of life will be held at a future date. Memorial contributions may be made to your local Cancer Society or hospice.
