SALIDIVAR, Manuel 'Sal' Manuel 'Sal' Salidivar, age 81, passed away at his home in Santa Rosa on July 13, 2013. He was born in Calipatria, California on March 11, 1932, a son of Francisco and Romalda (Rodriguez) Salidivar. He was also predeceased by three of his brothers, Henry Loya, Michael Loya, and Don Loya. He attended elementary school in Sacramento and graduated from El Cerrito High School in El Cerrito, CA. Sal enlisted in the Air Force in 1951, serving four years in the Air Force, including 11 months in Korea. During this time he merited the Korean SVC Medal, National Defense Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the Korean SVC Medal w/2 Bronze Stars. After leaving the service he worked as a postal clerk for 30 years mainly in Santa Rosa, CA. Margie Loe and Sal married in the late 1950's and had two sons, David (Susan) Salidivar, Bay City, Texas, and Frank (Tina) Salidivar, Kapolei, Hawaii. He is survived by four wonderful grandchildren; Laura, Mark, Samantha and Daniel. Sal loved to brag to anyone who would listen about his grandchildren: Mark, who is very active in church and community services, Laura who is a student at Texas A&M University, also involved in church and community services, and Samantha and Daniel who live in Hawaii. His many nieces and nephews loved him very much. Sal is also survived by his younger brother, Pete Loya( Linda), who lives in Boise, Idaho. In 1974, Sal married his soul mate of almost forty years, Dolores (Breeden). They both loved visiting with their families, who are the loves of their lives. He was an avid golfer, winner of many local club tournaments, and loved to spend vacations on golf courses all over the U.S, especially in Wisconsin with his friend of 64 years, Edgar Boreen. When it came to football, the season could not get here soon enough as he was a faithful 49er fan during the good and not so good seasons, and had many differences with his friend about the Green Bay Packers. Sal loved music, and listened to a variety of genres: classical, opera ("Turandot" being his favorite. Boy, could he belt out "Nes in Dorma"), Broadway musicals, etc. He would even start singing on the golf course, sometimes to the chagrin of some of his fellow players. Sal loved life, as his magical smile showed to all who met him. You will be truly missed, Sal.
