She was my favorite SRJC English instructor....she thought I could have a career in creative writing. She had faith and trust that I could take off with the creativiry I had learned from her. She was truly enigmatic, full of life, vigor, wicked sense of humor and most of all a sweet warm person. She will be deeply missed. My thoughts and prayers to her family at this time. Had a sense Marianne had passed last week. What a vital woman, filled with honesty, vibrancy, and humor. We met in a writers' group in 1973. She will be missed. Much love to her family. Elaine Starkman, Walnut Creek, CA
