Surrounded by his loving family, Mark sailed away on his next journey on Nov. 28, 2011 at the age of 55. Mark was born on September 6, 1956 to Dorothy Wilkinson and Arthur Adams in Long Beach, California. Beloved husband of Martie Gulliford-Adams for 25 years. Loving father of Hillary and Jeffrey Adams. Dear brother of Gary Adams, Cheryl Davidovich and Craig Adams. Cherished uncle to many nieces and nephews. His family and friends meant everything to him. We loved his passion for life, his warmth and sense of humor (he was quite the "punkster"), his compassionate spirit, and his calm leadership. Mark received his BS in Architecture from California Polytechnic State University, Pomona, in 1980, Magna Cum Laude. He studied in Florence, Italy through the International Program in Architecture. Mark loved being an architect. He developed a diverse range of skills working with design-oriented architectural firms in San Francisco and Los Angeles, and made his mark in the Napa-Sonoma County area after moving to Santa Rosa 18 years ago. His creative, poetic work is found in The Carneros Inn, DeTurk Round Barn Historic Renovation and Windsor Civic Center. He was involved in AIA - Redwood Empire Chapter, Habitat for Humanity, Sidewalk and Pedestrian Committee and Chamber of Commerce. Mark's love for his family, friends, career, music, health and fitness created a very rich life for him and those who knew him. He brought joy to the people around him just by being. Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of his life on Friday, December 30, time and place to be determined. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to Habitat for Humanity. As Mark was an organ donor, funeral services will be private and are being handled by Adobe Creek Funeral Home.
