Pastor Groves Obituary

Went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Monday, October 11, 2010. James is preceded in death by his wife Juanita Groves, seven siblings and his parents Henry and Irene Groves. He is survived by his beloved wife of 36 years, Betty Groves of Santa Rosa; cherished father of Joanne Horneff of Union City, James Paul Groves of Union City and Priscilla (James) Ricks of Nettleton, MS; grandfather of Michelle (Ephram) Cohen of San Francisco, Gabriel (Fran) Ricks of Chapin, SC and James (Samantha) Ricks of Nettleton, MS; great grandchildren, Cassie and Luke Ricks, Davis, Dobson, Lucy and Thomas Ricks and Grove and Violet Cohen; also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and his Church family at King's Chapel. James was a Pastor for many years in the Northern California Counties as well as Tennessee. He mentored many youth in preparing them for lives in the Ministry. A veteran of the U.S. Merchant Marines, World War II. Friends and family are invited to attend a visitation, Thursday, October 14th from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Eggen & Lance Chapel, a Funeral Service will be held Friday, October 15th at 12:00 Noon at King's Chapel, 801 Cherry St. Private interment at Santa Rosa Memorial Park. Mr. Groves did not know us but we knew him through his daughter, Priscilla. We know he was a loving and caring father to her and she loved him dearly and she will miss him very much.
