Penelope Woodward Obituary

Died on Friday, December 3, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. at The Oaks Convalescent Home in Petaluma California. She was 64 years old. Penelope was the daughter of the late Donald B. Woodward and the late Jean Davis Woodward, both of New York and Greenwich, Connecticut. She is survived by her stepbrother, Dana; her sister in law Carole; her step-sister Faith; and by cousins in Colorado and Oregon. Penelope was born in New York City, with a severe mental handicap. In spite of her handicap, Penelope wanted to live a normal life which was denied to her. She lived with her father and stepmother in Riverside and Greenwich, Connecticut, until 1974. When her father died in 1974, Penelope moved with her stepmother Frances Harrald Woodward to Haleiwa Hawaii. Penelope lived in Hawaii, which she loved, until 1987, and considered it to be her favorite place. In 1987 Penelope and her step mother moved to Santa Rosa California. After her stepmother's death in 1988, her step brother Dana and his wife Carole became Penelope's guardians. Penelope enjoyed the opportunities to travel with Dana and Carole to Hawaii and to spend week-ends in San Francisco. She was always at her happiest during these trips. She lived in Santa Rosa until 2004 when she moved to The Oaks in Petaluma. We pray that Penelope has finally achieved that which she sought above all: peace and eternal happiness. Arrangements under the care of: SANTA ROSA MORTUARY EGGEN AND LANCE CHAPEL. 545-3747
